National Honor Society
The Molly Gill Chapter of the National Honor Society is dedicated to providing leadership and service to the Forest Park family and the surrounding community. The group members are expected to participate in both group service projects and individual service projects. For information regarding membership, please see the "General Membership Letter" and the "By-Laws" under Group Files.
Group Announcements
Goody Bags Complete!
Thank you to all the members who contributed and came to help out!  The process went by quickly and we were able to make over 600 bags for the Freshman!  Some of the left over supplies will be donated to the ACTS center.  I updated the attendance sheet found in the Membership file, so double check to make  sure you are credited with your activities.  Also, you will see that I updated the fees section as well as the Breakfast with Santa. If there is an error, please stop by room 1102 and talk with Mrs. Baran.

If you are a new inductee, Mrs. Zarkouskas has your certificates in her room; please stop by her room to pick it up.
Freshman Goody Bags
Don't forget that this Thursday we are doing the freshman goody bags...we really need smarties/mints and more pencils!
Freshman Goody Bags
You can earn two service activities for this:
1. donating supplies such as pencils, lunch size bags, mints, smarties, and/or index cards.
2. attending the goody bag assembly on Thursday, January12th, in room 1102 for an hour min. 
Senior Volunteer Activity Opportunity
During the week of November 28th, there will be after school mentoring for 11th grade students for the research paper initiative.  If you stay after school, and work with students, you can use that time as volunteer hours/activity.  It is being held in room 1108, Mr. Cresswell's room.  Please make sure you sign in so that you receive credit for this activity.
NHS monthly Meeting
The NHS meeting on 12/7/2011 is the first meeting for all new members and current members.  It will be in the auditorium after school. 
Bio Writing: Wednesday, 11/16
Bio Writing for the Inductees will be on Wednesday, 11/16.  This is for current members.  Please come to room 1102 directly after school.

REMINDER:  THE DUE DATE FOR THE APPLICATION IS NOVEMBER 2ND.  THE INFORMATION SHEET (APPLICATION) IS DUE BY 2:30 TO MRS. BARAN IN ROOM 1102.  NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  APPLICATIONS CAN BE TURNED IN EARLY.  REMEMBER THAT 2 TEACHERS MUST DO A RECOMMENDATION FOR YOU, YOU MUST ASK THEM TO COMPLETE THE RECOMMENDATION FORM THAT WAS FORWARDED IN AN E-MAIL TO THE STAFF.
For Current Members
Reminder that the NHS will meet the first Wednesday of each month.  Therefore, the meeting for November is on November 2nd in the Lecture Hall.  The meeting times, places and special events dates are found below in a word document.  Also, officers will have a pre-meeting on Tuesday in room 1102 after school.
NHS Letters
If you have a GPA of 3.5 or above and are currently a 10th, 11th, or 12th grade student, then you will be receiving a letter inviting you to attend an informational meeting on October 21st in the Enclosed Cafeteria after school.  This letter will be distributed through your 1st period classes starting Wednesday, October 19th. 
If you believe you should have received a letter, please get a copy of your transcript and bring it to one of the sponsors as verification.  Thank you for your patience and we are looking forward to seeing all of you on Friday.
School Service Opportunity for Current Members
On October 26th, there will be a help session-meeting for students applyinng for membership.  Please come to the Library to help potential members with questions regarding their forms.  This counts as a service opportunity.

INFORMATIONAL MEETING FOR STUDENTS INTERESTED IN THE NHS
There will be an informational meeting for all 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students interested in joining the NHS. The meeting will take place in the Enclosed Cafeteria at 2:15, please be prompt.  In order to be considered students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 from last year.  Next week, letters will be sent to those students who meet this first qualification.  If you do not receive a letter by Monday, October 17th, please contact Mrs. Baran or Mrs. Zarkauskas so they can verify this information.

At the meeting, students will be given an Informational Form that will need to be completed.  Additionally, on October 26th, current NHS students will be available to work with students and answer questions regarding the form.  This help session will take place in the Library directly after school.

Informational Meeting to Join the NHS
The informational meeting for joining the NHS  is currently postponed.  It was scheduled for next week, however, due to technical difficulties, the information needed to move forwarded has yet to be obtained.  Once the sponsors receive the information, letters will be sent to those 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who meet the first requirement: a 3.5 GPA.  Additionally, an announcement will be made on FP's morning announcements and posted on this page under announcements.  We are sorry for the delay and hope to get this situation moving next week.
